 Clicks and stalls made me return the drive August 5, 2010

I was pleased that the Iomega drive was at such a great price point for an external hard drive, and was thrilled with the ease of use and fast (for USB) transfer speeds. But after one day the drive started to click infrequently. With further use over the next two days the clicking increased and playback of videos or transfer of large (>2GB) of data at a time caused the drive to jump and freeze. I believe it is a problem with the power supply and not the drive failing, but regardless the performance just wasn't where it should be.
In reading reviews across multiple website it appears that this is a recurring problem. There are some lemons out there for this device, and while many people seem to have a good experience potential purchasers should be aware of this potential problem. I had to return my unit - my first return to amazon.ca after years of purchases. I must say that the return process is a breeze, presuming my account does get credited in the end!

I bought this to to use with Time Machine. It looks good, even if it is hidden behind my iMac's big 27" monitor and the 19" one right next to it. It failed the first time I did the back-up, but the next one was clean as have all the others. Until I got the reminder from Amazon to make this review, I forgot it was even there. That's what you want from a hard drive.

I have this unit for 7 months and overall is ok. I use it with WD Live media player and it is noisy - there is chocks all the time and the sound is very annoying.
It is good for storage but it is not acceptable as a storage device for media player.

Le probleme que j'ai avec ce disque dur externe est que je dois tres souvent l'arreter et le redemarrer. En effet j'ai mis dessus toutes mes videos, musiques et photos et quand je veux visionner une video, 1 fois sur 2 pendant le visionnage, l'image se fige et je dois alors arreter le disque dur, le redemmarer pour continuer a regarder le film.
De plus il est assez bruyant, alors je ne sais pas si mon disque dur externe a un probleme a l'origine mais je vais contacter Amazon pour qu'il me le remplace car je suis tres decu de ce disque.
